British Triathlon Champion Will Clarke bids for second London victory

Following his win at the Mazda London Triathlon earlier this month, Multipower Ambassador Will Clarke will be looking for another strong performance on home soil, at the London stage of the Dextro Energy ITU World Championship Series, which is taking place on the 2012 Olympic triathlon course in Hyde Park on August 15.

London will host the sixth race of the inaugural 2009 ITU World Championship Series, which unites the world’s best triathletes to compete in eight iconic cities around the globe for World Championship points. The World Champion will be crowned at the Grand Final on the Gold Coast, Australia on September 13.

Speaking earlier this week, Will Clarke commented, ‘I was thrilled to win the Mazda London Triathlon earlier this month, it is an event I love and was a great boost ahead of the World Championship series in Hyde Park. I am looking forward to competing once again in London later this week, it is a fantastic feeling to race in front of a home crowd. Over the next three-years I will be working hard towards my ultimate goal, the 2012 Olympics, so it will also be great to try out the Olympic triathlon course for the first time.’

Twenty-four year-old Clarke from Cambridge, is reigning double British Triathlon Champion and former World U23 Champion. He recently signed a three-year deal with leading sports nutrition company Multipower, which will see Clarke use the products from the Active Range, developed specifically for endurance athletes.

The Multipower Active Range, developed in collaboration with athletes and the Olympic Center Rhein-Ruhr, Germany, is optimised for every phase – before, during and after exercise – for a detailed training build up, helping athletes to recover faster from training and maximize performance during competition.

This weekend the men’s elite race will begin at 13.15 on Saturday 15 August. Competitors will swim in the Serpentine followed by the cycle and run in and around Hyde Park.
