Body Builder

Stuart Garrington is a body builder and owner of Ebor Fitness gym in York.

I have been training since the age of 15 when I went to work in a gym on work experience from school and got hooked on weight training from there. As time went on I became more interested in the nutritional aspect of bodybuilding and I started dieting for my first competition at 17 years old. I believe that following a bodybuilding lifestyle at a young age instilled the discipline in me that I have transferred into everyday life as it showed me ‘you only get out, what you put in’. I have used this philosophy right through my bodybuilding career and also in my business. I opened Ebor Fitness in 2006 at 23 years old and since then have moved both the business and my bodybuilding up to the next level through putting a lot of time and effort into both.

Throughout many years of training I have tried many different styles of training and I could not say that I have a set style now, I think it is important to switch training styles every now and then to shock your body and find out what your body responds to the best. I take a very keen interest in nutrition and I am always learning. I always found that sticking to the basics works well for me although I do keep my protein pretty high. I think with both training and nutrition there are no big secrets it really just boils down to consistency, not missing your meals and supplements and training hard when you get into the gym.

My short term goals for 2010 are to win my class at the N.A.B.B.A. UK championships and get into the top 6 at the N.A.B.B.A. Universe in October. My longer term plans are to win the N.A.B.B.A. Britain and Universe.
